PLANO, Texas – April 28, 2021 – NTT DATA Services, a global digital business and IT services leader, today announced Michael Petersen, M.D. has joined as the new Chief Clinical Innovation Officer. Dr. Petersen is dedicated to helping clients solve complex challenges around health equity and social care in which data, analytics and technology can be applied to make a meaningful shift towards positive human-centric healthcare experiences.

“We are honored to welcome Dr. Petersen to the team,” said Mary Edwards, President, Healthcare Provider, NTT DATA Services. “His clinical background, compassionate leadership style and advocacy for the underserved will help propel innovation forward at a time when we need to reimagine and redefine health and wellbeing to be more human-empowered, knowledge-driven and technology-enabled.”

Dr. Petersen joins NTT DATA from Accenture, where he helped shape the firm’s health equity point of view, capabilities and ecosystem. Before working in healthcare IT, he was an emergency medicine pediatrician at several large health systems, including five years as Chief of Pediatrics at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital. He developed his leadership skills while serving in the United States Army.

“Dr. Petersen’s deep industry knowledge of emerging technologies and strategies that improve quality, cost of care and patient outcomes make him an instrumental part of our growing healthcare consulting leadership team,” said Dan Albright, Divisional President, Global Head of Consulting, NTT DATA Services. “Known as an industry thought leader in health equity, he continues to explore new ways to understand and engage with underserved communities through culturally competent experiences. He collaborates with an advanced ecosystem of partners to improve access to care by bringing together individuals and communities with a common goal of better and long-lasting health and wellbeing.”

COVID-19 forever changed the healthcare landscape, shedding new light on the gaps in our healthcare system. NTT DATA is continually searching for ways to expand its commitment to work with clients and organizations such as HLTH to achieve better health and wellbeing. NTT DATA recently became a Title and Lead sponsor for HLTH’s Health Equity Impact Program, which is part of the HLTH Foundation program that is putting a spotlight on important voices, issues, challenges and progress in our reckoning with health equity. As NTT DATA’s Chief Clinical Innovation Officer, Dr. Petersen will help us develop the agenda and lead discussions that will address topics such as product and service design, chronic care, finance models, technology access and the use of tech tools metrics to correct inequities and deliver on services that improve health justice.
