To overcome these challenges, leadership sought an automated integration solution. Working with NTT DATA’s MuleSoft Services team, the organization completed a MuleSoft® Anypoint Platform™ implementation. They then sought an agile approach that would enable their team to continuously add new features and make real-time decisions. Again, leadership turned to NTT DATA for guidance.

Business Needs

For this precision oncology organization, the business side of providing innovative cancer treatments and therapy solutions demands an automated integration solution to process the continuous stream of patient data and service requests. But disjointed systems were proving to be time-consuming and costly.

A streamlined systems integrations approach would leverage current systems, including a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Oracle Database, Oracle enterprise resource planning (ERP) and SQL capabilities, Salesforce and MuleSoft.

Following its MuleSoft® Anypoint Platform™ implementation, the next step was an agile approach to continuously add new features and enable real-time decision-making through integrated reporting tools such as sales order data and billing services.

Solution

After implementing the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, NTT DATA assisted the organization with streamlining their customer, billing and order management processing systems by integrating an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. The ERP integration project leverages workflow capabilities for sales order and billing information flow by creating repositories and branches. The team used GitHub for all environments, securing source code management functionality for future engagements.

This approach also enabled the integration of LIMS, billing vendor applications, Oracle/SQL database, Salesforce, Cloud-Docker container APIs and internal software applications (ACS) through the MuleSoft platform. The teams created continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate code and build system deployment applicability.

Additionally, customer/account data, sales order data, invoicing and billing information were streamlined on a real-time basis, thanks to a modern, cloud-based platform. The team used APIs written for the organization’s XIFIN channel to achieve this advantage. It allows the system to provide complete revenue cycle management that goes beyond a standard billing system approach.

By utilizing the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform as a foundation and defining processes, the organization has increased sustainability through enhanced order management functions, greatly reducing their prior time constraints and system deficiencies. The new cycle management system improves overall quality, profitability and performance optimization.

Integrating multiple software applications enabled the organization to streamline order management and customer billing processes, as well as customer and sales data, invoicing and billing information. APIs now assist in data extraction without data leakage. And CI/CD processes assist with real-time services delivery.

As a result of this project, the organization anticipates a significant reduction — a minimum of 50% — in the required human hours of their current developer team during future engagements.
