NTT DATA Awarded Contract by Public Transport Victoria, Australia, to Operate myki System

PLANO, TX – July 11, 2016 – NTT DATA, Inc., a leading business and IT services provider, today announced that NTT DATA’s subsidiary, Payment Services Victoria, has been awarded a AU$700 million, seven-year contract by the State of Victoria, Australia, and Public Transport Victoria (PTV), to operate the smartcard ticketing system, myki.

The myki smartcard ticketing system was originally built by NTT DATA across Victoria’s metropolitan and regional centers commencing in December 2008. Today, myki is one of the largest mass transit smartcard ticketing systems in the world with over 12 million active smartcards in circulation and nearly 400 million customer trips completed each year. Since its implementation, NTT DATA has been committed to building and maintaining the current system while focusing on improving the myki customer experience.

The new myki contract is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2017.
